His Story

Rev. Dr. Lawrence C. Glass Jr.

Before the pulpit, before the titles, before the congregation of thousands — there was a man. A son born on Christmas Day. A brother who grew up alongside siblings who would become his closest allies. A young man who said yes to God and never looked back.

Lawrence Glass Jr. is a husband, a father, a brother, a friend, a mentor, and a shepherd. His story is not one chapter — it is an entire library, written by the people who know him and the life he has lived.

The Full Story

The man, the moments, and the meaning behind 70 years

Born on Christmas Day, 1956, Lawrence C. Glass Jr. entered the world as a gift — a truth his family would come to understand more deeply with every passing year. Growing up alongside his siblings — Golden, Ronnie, Ruth Estelle, Cynthia, Crystal, and Tony — he learned early what it meant to be part of something bigger than yourself.

He accepted Christ in 1976 and was ordained to ministry on June 29, 1980. But faith was never just a career path for Lawrence — it was the thread that held every part of his life together: his marriage to Sandra Abraham Glass, his parenting of Daniel and Jennifer, his friendships, and his service.

His pursuit of knowledge led him to William Tyndale Bible College (1983–1991) and eventually a Doctorate of Divinity from New Covenant University in 2013. But ask anyone who knows him, and they will tell you — the real education happened in living rooms, hospital corridors, phone calls at midnight, and quiet prayers over troubled hearts.

On June 15, 1990, he was called to pastor El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Redford, Michigan. Two days later, on Father’s Day, he delivered his first message. Under his leadership, the church grew from approximately 65 members to over 2,500 — not through spectacle, but through steady, loving, Spirit-led service.

Today, El Bethel stands with 28+ active ministries serving every corner of community life. Lawrence continues to inspire through preaching, teaching, the “Let’s Talk About It” podcast, and his devotional “Inspect Your Spiritual House in 7 Days.” But the man behind the microphone is the same man who calls to check in, who shows up to help, and who never forgets a name.
